Hebrews 12: Avoiding Bitterness… Not Taking Revenge

August 18, 2013

We are continuing our study in Hebrews and building off of the idea that Hebrews 12 says “see to it that no bitter root grows up to defile many”. In many instances when someone sins against us we have the temptation of taking revenge. Whether we want to protect ourselves, right a wrong, or make sure that they get what they deserve we are often seeking revenge. The Bible tells us that seeking revenge will derail us from how the Lord wants us to live. But how do you not seek revenge? How do you stay free from bitterness when someone has wronged you? That’s what we’ll look at in this weeks message from Hebrews 12, Romans 12 and 1 Samuel 24.
